The first coffee tree in the world is discovered at the horn ofAfrica. Local indigenous tribes often grind the coffee fruits into powder andkneaded it together with the animal fat to make spherical balls. They treatthese coffee balls as precious food to be eaten by soldiers to go out tobattle.

At that time, people could not figure out why coffee eaters becameexcited, because they had no idea about the excitement of coffee. On thecontrary, they thought that was coffee eaters’ religious fanaticism. Because ofits mystery, coffee became exclusive goods for priest and doctor. People havedifferent stories about the origin of coffee. But the most common and popularstory is about a shepherd. It is said that a shepherd finds by chance that hissheep become very active, he figures out his sheep behave in a funny and weirdway, because they eat a kind of red fruit. So he tries to take some these redfruits to home and boil them, and unexpectedly, they give out fragrance and thejuice can refresh people. Since then, such a fruit is treated as a refreshingbeverage and is received very well.

In the ancient times, Arabs took the coffee juice as the stomachmedicine after drying coffee beans and boiling them at first, because theythought that such juice might be helpful for digestion. But later, they foundthat coffee could refresh them. In the meanwhile, coffee replaced the alcoholicbeverage to become a common refreshing beverage, for Islamic doctrineprohibited believers from drinking alcohol. After the 15th century,Muslims who made pilgrimage to the Holy Land - Mecca continuously broughtcoffee to their residential place, thus causing coffee to be brought to Egypt,Syria, Iran, Turkey and other countries. Due to the Ottoman Empire in Turkey, coffee appeared in the Continental Europe. Because when the army of Osmanliliking to have coffee finally withdrew, they left a great number of suppliesincluding the coffee beans, after they settled in the Continental Europe formany years. People living in Vienna and Paris have developed European coffeeculture with these coffee beans and the cooking experience from Turks. The originalnature of war is attacked and damaged, but it brings the integration of cultureby chance, which is unexpected to rulers.
